Stay overnight in Zakopane instead and you trade convenience for range — your own hiking, your own hours, and the town in the evening once the coaches have gone home.

Is Zakopane worth visiting as a day trip from Kraków?
Yes, if you accept it will be a long day — most tours run ten to twelve hours door to door. You will comfortably see the town, ride a cable car and reach one major viewpoint or lake. What you will not get is an unhurried morning on the trails, which is the argument for staying a night.
